Within Reach Foundation Awarded Social Justice Grant by NFL Foundation

On Tuesday, Allen Robinson’s Within Foundation was awarded a
$5,000 grant from the NFL Foundation as part of the NFL’s initiative to help
players get more involved in social causes within their community. The grant
funding will support the Within Reach Foundation’s educational outreach
programs as it transitions from Jacksonville to Chicago in 2018.

Robinson is set to experience his first season in Chicago
after signing a free-agent contract with the Bears this offseason. Likewise,
his charity – the Within Reach Foundation – plans to begin launching its
ongoing community outreach programs in the Chicago marketing during the
upcoming season. These programs are focused around providing educational
opportunities to low-income, inner-city students. During the foundation’s
three-year run in Jacksonville, Robinson hosted numerous programs benefitting
students involved in local Boys & Girls Clubs. These programs saw Robinson
distributing backpacks full of school supplies, treating kids to a holiday
shopping spree, and visiting Boys & Girls Clubs to deliver donated sports
equipment. These programs will continue in the Chicago area, starting in the
fall of 2018.

The NFL Foundation’s Social Justice Grant program provides
grant funding to nonprofit organizations whose missions are focused around
social justice causes and have been financially supported by an NFL player.
According to the NFL Foundation’s website, the grants are designed to reduce
barriers to opportunity through a focus on education, criminal justice reform,
poverty, racial equality, and many other causes.

Lack of educational opportunity is one of the largest
barriers preventing economically-challenged students from excelling and
reaching their full potential. Robinson’s outreach addresses this need through his
annual programs. This Social Justice grant will allow Allen Robinson’s Within
Reach Foundation to launch programming in its new home in Chicago.
